There are many benefits to healthy eating that are good for the body as well as the mind. Healthy eating will improve your energy levels and help to improve your mood. When we feel happier, we are more productive which is a “win, win” for everyone. But there are some foods out there that are extremely nutritious and even have some medicinal properties. These foods are known as “Super Foods.
Eating healthy is not just good for our energy levels and mood, it can also help to ward off illness and even increase the longevity of our lives. This is why it is important to eat superfoods for good health.
I have created a list of my “Top 5 Super Foods for Good Health”, and the benefits of eating these foods.
Eating just one or two avocados a week gives you all the benefits of healthy monounsaturated fats, Vitamin B6, and loads of folate.
Per 100 grams, avocados contain 160 calories, 2 grams of protein, and 15 grams of healthy fats. They also contain 7 grams and 2 grams of carbohydrates having it a very low carb, high healthy fats food which is excellent for weight loss.
This nutrient-dense green superfood is low in calories and high in antioxidants and other good health properties. Per 100 grams, spinach contains 23 calories, 2.9 grams of protein, 3.6 grams of carbohydrates, 2.2 grams of fibre, and 0.4 grams of fats.
Spinach contains vitamins C and E which have antioxidant properties. This can help lower cancer risk by controlling levels of free radicals. Spinach is also a source of folate which is a nutrient that supports cell division. Studies on various groups of people have found an association between higher dietary folate intake and lower risk of colorectal cancer.
